Boğaziçi’nin Rüzgarları & Yelkenliler - The Winds of the Bosphorus & Sailboats
Yelkenli tekneler rüzgar gücü ile hareket eden deniz vasıtalarıdır. Yelken sporu da bu taşıtlar ile sporcuların yarıştıkları, yelkenleri kontrol ederek rüzgara hükmetmeye çalıştıkları ve bu sayede en iyi performanslarını ortaya koydukları bir spordur. Yelkenli sporu hem eğitim hem de ekipman gerektiren bir spor olduğu için kıyafetlerinden halat ve pusulalarına kadar pek çok aksesuarı temin etmek gereklidir ve en önemli araçta yelkenli teknesidir. Yelken sporu farklı kategorilerdeki tekneler ile icra edilir ve bu sınıflandırma işlemleri Türkiye’de genelde IRC ve ORC olarak bilinen iki derecelendirme sistemi ile yapılır. Bunların en bilineni ise Uluslararası Derecelendirme Sertifikası’dır (IRC), bu sertifikayı veren derecelendirme kurumu yelkenli tekne ve yatları kendi kriterlerine göre kategorilere ayırır. Bu sene, 17-20 Eylül 2025 tarihleri arasında 24.’sü yapılan BOSPHORUS CUP İstanbul’da düzenlenen özel yelkenli yarışlarından biridir. İsmini aldığı Boğaziçi’nde 5. ve 6. ayakları koşulan yarışta 53 yelkenli tekne yer aldı. Katılmanın ve yarışmanın bile bir cesaret işi olduğu bu yarışlarda sert esen rüzgara karşı ekip ruhu ile çalışan takımlar ellerinden gelen çabayı sarf ederek hem yarışı tamamlamayı hem de ilk sıralarda derece almayı hedeflediler. İstanbul Boğazı, yelkenler ile bir görsel şölene dönüşen bir etkinliğe sahiplik yaparken, Boğaziçi sahillerinde yarışmayı seyreden izleyicilerde teknelerin geçişlerini hayranlıkla izlerken bu macera dolu sporu, sporcular ile birlikte hissetmeye çalıştılar.
Sailboats are marine vessels propelled by wind power. Sailing is a sport in which athletes compete on these vessels, trying to rule over the wind by controlling the sails, and thus achieving their best performance. Because sailing requires both training and equipment, it is necessary to acquire a wide range of accessories, from clothing to ropes and compasses, and the most important thing is the sailboat. Sailing is a sport performed with boats of different categories, and these classifications are carried out in Turkey using two rating systems, generally known as IRC and ORC. The most well-known of these is the International Rating Certificate (IRC), and the corporation, that issue this certificate, categorizes sailboats and yachts according to their own criteria. The 24th BOSPHORUS CUP, held this year between 17-20 September 2025, is one of the special sailing races held in Istanbul. Fifty-three sailing boats participated in the fifth and sixth legs of the race, which took its name from the Bosphorus. In these races, where even participating and competing required courage, sailing athletes worked with team spirit against the harsh winds, making every effort and giving their all, aiming to both complete the race and achieve first places. The Bosphorus hosted a visual spectacle with sailing, while audience on the Bosphorus shores watched the boats pass in awe, trying to experience this adventurous sport alongside the athletes.
